Kids in the Gap

"Kids in the Gap" is our Sunday school class for students from the third - eighth grades. Our aim is to help them better understand who they are in Jesus and the vital role that they can play in reaching out in intercession.

Intercessors are those who are quick to "stand in the gap" and call upon God when no one else will. Ezekiel 22:30 says, "I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none."

It is never too early to start training, and that's what we are trying to do:

  • Teaching our "kids" to resist the intrusion of evil into their personal lives and in the society by calling on the name of Jesus as prayer warriors for Him.
  • We want them to learn the "battle plans" early in their life so that they may be ingrained in their character and become a part of their Christian walk as they mature into the men and women God is looking for.
The lesson topics include
  • detailed study and use of the components of The Lord's Prayer.
  • We ask and answer the question, "How Do We Hear God Speak to Us?"
  • They learn about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and have the opportunity to seek this baptism with their parents' consent and encouragement.
  • Other lessons are: All-Powerful God, Know Your Enemy, The Armor of God and Put on the Full Armor of God.

  • They read scripture directly from the Word,
  • they pray for each other and the world,
  • they have crafts, do simple dramatizations,
  • play games for fun and
  • of course they can't miss their snacks!
