I am alive here in Romania!

Mar 20, 2008

Hello Friends!
I am alive here in Romania! Tonight is the banquet for the maternity home. It is crazy that it's already here! Normally this banquet is a report on the ministry but because there isn't a home to report on we had to REALLY seek God on what we should do.....Not that we don't seek God = ) We felt like this year it was suppose to have a theme of how valuable LIFE is. If people understand that their view is changed about abortion. We could REALLY use your prayers as Kathy (the director) is venturing out into new waters. This is SO different then people have seen in past banquets.
This past week we have had a team here and I have had the opportunity to participate in some other types of ministry. We visited a church that is in a garbage dump and ministers to the gypsies that live there. We walked through the dump and saw how they live. Most of the houses are made out of whatever trash they can find. The church is helping the families build little wood homes. And by little I mean little. Four people will live in what we Americans and Canadians would consider a shed to store our junk. The church also has a shower house and is trying to establish a medical clinic. The gypsies are outcast and known for stealing here. So people do not trust them all. Because of that it's a big deal to see people reaching out to them. It was so sad to see the poverty they live in. Because of how they are treated here they are very little chance of getting out of the dump. Most people will not hire them. One of the ladies we went to visit gave up the last of her wood to make a fire for us! It blew me away how she wanted to give us what little she had!
We also went to the maternity hospital to give out gifts to the new moms. Because the abortion rate here is 50% we want to let these moms know that we applaud their decision to give LIFE to their babies! It was cool to go and bless these women!
One more cool thing....Starbucks opened last week! We are a little too excited about it though!
So thank you all for your prayers and support!

God Bless,
Vania
