Melissa Quinn Update

Jul 30, 2008

We just received a phone call from Jenny and Rev Taylor to say Melissa is an hour into her journey from London to Rwanda, via Kenya. From all accounts they had a spectacular time together and Jenny said it felt as if she was saying goodbye to her daughter at the airport. They picked her up easily on Tuesday morning and did a mini tour of the English countryside along the Thames river, had lunch overlooking it, visited St Mary's where Roy and I were Youth leaders eons ago. After dinner they found several connections...friends who had just retired from and written books on the history of Rwanda. Roy and Jenny gave her copies to read on the plane. They had glorious weather and this morning Roy and Jenny took Melissa to Windsor castle for the changing of the guard and then lunch together. Then it was time to go to Heathrow and they prayed first as Melissa's luggage was way over the allowances. Jenny explained how often they flew Kenya Air for charity purposes and not only was Melissa allowed through but her luggage is checked through to Rwanda escaping another possible rate hike or damage. God is so good!!! They have asked her to come to stay on her return visit in a year and they are now in her corner for prayer requests and e.mail updates. She has promised to learn French with the dictionaries they gave her if Roy, who is a brilliant organist, will learn guitar. Melissa's office staff speak only Rwandan and French, so "Hello" and "Goodbye" won't be the only words she knows.
Thank you for all your prayers for her. God bless each and every one of you. Also pray blessings on Jenny and Roy as their generosity is far and above what others would do.
Much love and excitement at what God does for us all,
Joan and Peter
